Dear Customers,
Just because we’re not physically here, doesn’t mean we’ve gone anywhere. We are still very much open for business and our installation waiting list is currently approximately 10-12 weeks. Yes, we are still trading and we are still operational!
However, as you may or (or may not) have seen, the landlord of our premises on Market Street in Whaley Bridge has had a High Court Writ issued against us. Due to some malicious and slanderous posts on local social media, we have decided to issue a statement clarifying the situation and correcting any misapprehensions people may be labouring under.
Our particular situation is one of the many effects of Covid. During the pandemic, we reached an agreement with the landlord that the rent could be temporarily paused until such time as we were able to re-open and begin fully trading again – he has had the Writ issued in an attempt to regain his “lost income” from voluntarily suspending our rent. In the meantime, the original 5-year lease also came to an end and the landlord has now declined to renew with us unless we provide a personal guarantee against family and personal assets in excess of £75000. This is an unreasonable and untenable demand with which we simply cannot comply.
Whilst it is sad that Whaley Bridge high street is in decline and we don’t want to abandon such a prime location (creating yet another empty shop and contributing to the decline of our local community), we are being forced into looking for other premises. But we are choosing to look on the bright side and are on the search for a new site, one that provides better development opportunities and would enable us to considerably expand our bespoke kitchen and bathroom worktop fabrication.
We are a local business, employing local people, supporting our local community and we are very keen to remain so. If you have any questions, queries or concerns at all, you can contact us on the phone (07593 442022), via Facebook Messenger (Personal Lifespace Design) or email us at emma@personallifespacedesign.co.uk .
Thank you for taking the time to read our statement and we very much look forward to this new chapter for our business.
